Steve Aoki: High-Energy Virtual Production in Toronto
Working with Steve Aoki on this project was all about high energy and even higher saturation. When you're dealing with a personality that big, the visuals have to match.
We leaned heavily into the LED wall to create these hyper-vibrant, surreal environments. The challenge with a setup like this is maintaining skin tones while being surrounded by intense teal and yellow/green light. As a Toronto cinematographer, I love using the LED volume for this—it allows the colors to actually "wrap" around the subject physically, rather than just being a flat background.
It was a fast-paced shoot, but the flexibility of being in-studio meant we could flip the entire "vibe" of the room in seconds just by changing the color profiles on the wall.
