The Logistics Nightmare: Traditional Car Filming
Filming cars in Toronto usually means a logistical nightmare—road permits, police escorts, and praying the "Golden Hour" lasts longer than 40 minutes. On this recent project, we brought the road into the studio using an LED wall (Virtual Production). The biggest win? Total control. We "chased" the sunset for six hours straight without the sun actually moving. Because the environment is real-time, the reflections on the car’s body and glass look authentic—something that's nearly impossible to fake with a green screen.
In Toronto, I’m leaning into this workflow more and more. It’s safer for the crew, easier on the production budget, and lets us focus entirely on the lighting rather than the traffic.
